If allowed, the Plan seeks to block off pedestrian access from our complex to the marina, and to the neighboring community. Our only entrance and exit will be via Jefferson Way/Lincoln Blvd.
The blog will have information about upcoming council meeting information (date, time, location), councilman contact information, etc., so that we can prevent this Plan and protect our access to the Marina.
So sorry that no one has subscribed to this blog yet!
ReplyDeleteI have only lived in my apartment at Jefferson at Marina Del Rey since the beginning of October and was looking forward to when it warmed up so I can utilize the bike path and explore Marina Del Rey more on foot and bike. I do not know if I should be saddened or offended that the home dwellers not only think of us a hoodlums (producing graffiti and conducting criminal acts), but are unwilling to make the community easily assessable to all.
I can honestly say that I have never committed any acts of graffiti and have no desire to be a criminal. I have yet to see anyone leaving the premise with spray cans in hand or looking suspicious with stolen goods.
No offense to the homeowners of the Oxford Triangle, I have absolutely no desire to aimlessly roam down the streets of their neighborhood. I do believe I have the right to assess public areas and utilize streets in order to get to the Marina, park, bike path, or wherever I wish to go the quickest way possible.
What I would like to know is what evidence the homeowners of Oxford Triangle have proving the renters of our community are committing crimes in their area. The fact is that most people who reside at Jefferson at Marina Del Rey have jobs and choose to live in the area with the idea of steering clear of criminal areas. The idea that we would want to make our own environment unsafe or unwelcoming, baffles me.
I believe the homeowners of the Oxford Triangle consider us, the residents of Jefferson at Marina Del Rey as 2nd class citizens and are discriminating against us because we do not own property. Regardless of home ownership status, we live in the same community and we all pay taxes. I can think of a few ways to better spend city money, (I assume this is where the money would come from). Besides, in reality, gates and large walls only provide a false sense of security, as well as block us, who are members of this community from the amenities of our city.
I wish I could be at the meeting to discuss this issue, however, like the previous meeting held, I just so happen to work. Feel free to use my thoughts if it helps. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to contribute towards the cause. I really hope we do not loss this battle to assess what is ours and considered public property.
